More prints

Here are some more prints from the freezer paper stencils. This one was a little distressed (thin in some parts) because my brush had a little water in it.

Freezer Paper Stencils

I'm experimenting with freezer paper stencils on fabric. I want some original fabric designs for some upcoming projects and have tried screen-printing, but I don't have a usable screen. Making freezer paper stencils is a simple process, although cutting the stencil out of the freezer paper is somewhat time-consuming. I liked the results and was surprised that I did not have any problems with the ink seeping under the paper.

I first learned about the process in Lena Corwin's Printing by Hand. This is the best book that I have found on all types of printing by hand, including handmade stamps, store bought stamps, freezer paper, contact paper, mylar, screen printing,  etc.)

Preparations for my first art fair

This week I am busy preparing my artwork and display for my first art fair, which will be at Amazon Cafe off of Jodeco Rd. (in McDonough) on Saturday, October 23 from 10-5. Here is my booth sign I just finished:

Nursery Decor Illustrations

I've really enjoyed illustrating very simplistically the past couple of weeks. It is a big change from detailed, more realistic painting. Here is another colored pencil on type page. I really need to get a more appropriate, kid-friendly page for a background. Oh well, just practicing...

(I didn't read this book, just rescued it from the trash when the library was throwing it away. It's funny to think about what can be done with "junk.")

A New Illustration Style

These new acrylic paintings were inspired by my most recent illustration class at SCAD, which is so much fun. Last class focused on layers, textures, transparency, and value. It's very different from my usual realistic style.
